Once I start reading, I can't stop

As soon as I am engaged in a book, everything else in my life goes on hold. I am absorbed, captivated, enthralled. That science homework I was meant to do? The flute practice? Nope, I'd rather be reading. The wild species known as a Jodie can be recognised by the distinctive feature of always being attached to a book.
It doesn't just stop there, as soon as my mind gets into "reading mode", I can blitz through book after book after book. I am writing this now because I am currently at this stage, in just the past week I have read four books; 1984 by George Orwell, Paper Towns by John Green, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Submarine by Joe Dunthorne.
I love books, every one is different and special in it's own way. They're almost like people but without the inconsistency and annoying-ness. However, they're also very needy and demand all of your attention, meaning you neglect other parts of your life. I'm not really complaining, they're a great form of escapism for many people because you can be transported to a new world with new people and new events. I don't read just for escapism though, I read to experience, to learn, to enjoy.
I don't think there has ever been a point in my life when I haven't had a book on the go since I was very, very young, but every once in a while I rekindle my love for reading and disappear for an undetermined amount of time into my nest of paperback pages. So the next question I'm going to ask myself tonight is, what shall I read next?

So I've given this website a little makeover and deleted the content so I can start fresh!
